Vinland Power established in Canada
Landsvirkjun Power and Growler Energy are pleased to announce the formation of a new renewable energy company in Newfoundland and Labrador - Vinland Power. Vinland Power’s mandate is the pursuit of renewable energy development opportunities in the Province.
Landsvirkjun Power is a subsidiary of the state-owned utility and largest power company in Iceland. Headquartered in Reykjavik, Landsvirkjun has about $650M USD in annual revenues and about 2200 MW total installed capacity.
Growler Energy is a renewable energy independent power producer, headquartered in St. John’s, NL and has a community-centric approach to development that relies on the power of strong partnerships and community engagement to deliver successful projects.
Vinland Power will lead with passion, knowledge and respect. We look forward to the continued development of important relationships with Qalipu Holdings and local municipalities, ensuring meaningful involvement of Indigenous Groups and communities in regions where we develop projects.
This combination of Indigenous Partnership, strong community engagement, international utility scale expertise, and local knowledge will contribute to what is already a world class renewable energy based electrical system in Newfoundland and Labrador.
We also thank Ambassador Jenny Hill (Canadian Ambassador to Iceland) and Minister Andrew Parsons (Newfoundland and Labrador Minister of Industry, Energy and Technology) for joining Rikardur Rikardsson (Landsvirkjun EVP Business Development and Innovation) and Robert Woolgar (Growler Energy President and CEO) at the signing event for the Vinland Power Letter of Intent.
