Landsvirkjun sells approximately 85% of its generated energy to power-intensive industries, with about 15% of the energy sold in the wholesale market and to the TSO’s grid. Various opportunities lie in new products and markets, e.g., ferrosilicon production and data centres.

Alcoa
The aluminum smelter in Reyðarfjörður is the largest in Iceland, with a production capacity of up to 360,000 tons of aluminum per year. The Alcoa smelter is also the most recent addition to the three aluminum smelters in Iceland, with operations dating back to 2007.

Norðurál
The aluminum smelter in Grundartangi began operations in 1998, with an initial production capacity of about 60,000 tons of aluminum per year. The smelter's current production capacity is over 300,000 tons per year.

Rio Tinto Iceland
The aluminum smelter in Straumsvík in Hafnarfjörður, started operations in 1969 with an initial production capacity of approximately 33,000 tons of aluminum per year. The current production capacity of the smelter is 212,000 tons per year.

Elkem Iceland
The ferrosilicon plant in Grundartangi began operations in 1979, with an initial production capacity of about 40,000 tons of ferrosilicon per year. The current production capacity of the plant is approximately 120,000 tons per year.

PCC BakkiSilicon
PCC BakkiSilicon started operating a silicon metal plant at Bakki near Húsavík in 2018. The plant's production capacity is currently around 35,000 tons of silicon metal per year.

Verne Global
Verne Global operates a data center at Ásbrú in Reykjanesbær. Verne and Landsvirkjun signed a power contract in 2009. Verne Global's customers are international companies and institutions.

RDC
Reykjavík DC operates a data center at Korputorg in Reykjavík. Reykjavík DC and Landsvirkjun signed a power purchase agreement in 2019 and the data center has been owned by Borealis Data Center since 2022. Reykjavík DC's customers are domestic companies and institutions.

AtNorth
AtNorth and Landsvirkjun signed a power purchase agreement in 2016. The company operates three data centers in Iceland, located in Fitjar in Reykjanesbær, Akureyri, and Hafnarfjörður. AtNorth's customers are international companies and institutions.

Borealis Data Center
Borealis Data Center and Landsvirkjun signed a power purchase agreement in 2018. Borealis operates three data centers in Iceland, located in Blönduós, Fitjar in Reykjanesbær, and Korputorg in Reykjavík. Borealis's customers are international companies and institutions.

First Water
First Water and Landsvirkjun signed a power purchase agreement in 2022. First Water specializes in sustainable land-based salmon farming in Þorlákshöfn. In 2023, First Water produced about 700 tons of salmon, increasing production to 1,500 tons in 2024. Future plans aim for an annual production of 50,000 tons.

TDK Foil Iceland
TDK Foil Iceland started operations at its aluminum foil factory in Akureyri in 2009. The factory produces aluminum foils for capacitors in electronic equipment. The production capacity of the factory is 2,200 tons of aluminum foil per year.
Atlantsorka
Atlantsorka ehf., subsidiary of Atlantsolía ehf, was established in 2022 as a domestic electricity retailer to households and smaller companies.

Fallorka
Fallorka was founded in 2002 and is owned by Norðurorka. The company retails electricity domestically to households and smaller companies and also operates power plants for electricity production.

HS Orka
HS Orka was founded in 1974. HS Orka retails electricity domestically to households and smaller companies and also operates power plants for electricity production.

Landsnet
The establishment of Landsnet hf., the Icelandic TSO, was based on the Electricity Act, passed by Parliament in the spring of 2003. The company is the transmission system operator, and its role is electricity transmission.

N1 Rafmagn
N1 Rafmagn was established in 2017 as Íslensk orkumiðlun. In 2021 the name was changed to N1 Rafmagn. The company is a domestic electricity retailer to households and smaller companies.

Orka heimilanna
Orka heimilanna started operations at the beginning of 2018 as a domestic electricity retailer to households and smaller companies.

Orka náttúrunnar
Orka náttúrunnar is a subsidiary of Orkuveita Reykjavíkur (OR) and took over OR's electricity production and sales in 2014. Orka náttúrunnar generates and retails electricity domestically to households and smaller companies.

Orkubú Vestfjarða
The Westfjord Power Company, or Orkubú Vestfjarða, commenced operations in 2001. Its establishment was based on legislation passed by Parliament the same year. The company generates and retails electricity domestically to households and smaller companies.

Orkusalan
Orkusalan was founded in 2006, and its formal operations began in early 2007. Orkusalan is a subsidiary of RARIK, and its primary role is generating and selling electricity domestically to households and smaller companies.

Straumlind ehf.
Straumlind ehf. was established in 2020 as a domestic electricity retailer to households and smaller companies.
